SUMMER TIPS FOR DRY AND DAMAGED HAIRS

Everything from pollution to hair dryers can wreak havoc on your hair. If you've noticed your hair becoming dull and brittle, head into your kitchen and try making some of these natural home remedies for dry hair.

Hot Oil Treatment

Natural oils are some of the best home remedies for dry hair because they're excellent sources of Vitamin A, Vitamin E, and other fatty acids. These vitamins and fatty acids help repair and protect hair from damaging factors. Warm up a small bowl of jojoba oil, olive oil, or almond oil and apply to your hair, concentrating on the most dried and damaged areas first. Finish by combing the warm oils from the scalp to the ends of your hair. Leave on for about 30 minutes and rinse out with a shampoo and style as usual.

Conditioning Hair Mask

Eggs and dairy products are high in biotin and protein, which are two nutrients hair absolutely needs to be healthy and strong. Heat a couple of tablespoons of plain yogurt (avoid any flavored yogurts with added sugar) and mayonnaise until warm, then apply he mixture mid-length to your hair. Focus applying this conditioning mask to the ends of your hair. Leave on for about half an hour and rinse out with shampoo.

Overnight Treatment

Coconut oil is a natural oil that penetrates hair easily and can leave hair feeling much softer after just one night. For an easy overnight treatment, apply coconut oil to dry hair. Start application about mid-length and finishing applying at the ends. If you have a dry scalp you can apply a small amount at the roots as well. Gently wrap hair up in a shower cap or other hair wrap and leave on overnight. Shampoo hair and style as usual the following morning.

Dry Hair Treatment Tips

These home remedies for dry hair are quick, effective ways to smoothe and soften damaged hair, but they're not a substitute for regular conditioners. It's good to apply one of these hair masks or conditioning treatments only about once a week and rely on good hair care practices every day. One of the best dry hair tips you can keep in mind is to always condition hair. Using a deep moisturizing conditioner every time you shampoo your hair will help keep dry hair nourished in between repair treatments.

NATURAL HAIR STRAIGHTENING HOME REMEDIES

Straight hair is known for its glossy and slick appearance, and as a result, it enhances the visual appeal of a person. Straight hair is popular with both men and women; however, not many people are blessed with naturally straight hair, and often turn to chemical treatments to get the desired result. The finished look and the immediate results of salon-treated hair are the main reasons why people opt for the straightening treatment.

Nonetheless, the harsh chemicals and the heated straightening irons, used over and over during the treatment, damage the hair significantly. Moreover, the cost and the extensive maintenance routine may act as a dampener for some.
 Home Remedies
There are some very effective tips, techniques and home remedies that help in controlling frizz and straightening the tresses naturally. Home remedies may not provide as impressive results as the salon treatment methods, but they score on cost effectiveness and are completely damage free. Some efficient home remedies for straight hair are as follows.

  • Splash milk on the hair using a spray bottle. Distribute the milk evenly through the hair using a comb. Rinse the hair after 30 minutes. Milk protein fortifies the hair shafts making them smooth and frizz free. This works well for people with curly hair.

  • Regular hot oil massage conditions the hair and removes frizz. Oil treatments make hair appear straight and glossy.

  • Apply warm olive or coconut oil on the hair and scalp. Cover the hair with a warm towel and allow it to soak in for 30 minutes. Wash the hair and comb hair whilst wet. Repeat the process at least thrice a week.

  • Castor oil is also helpful in straightening the hair.

  • Coconut milk contains nutrients that are believed to straighten the hair. Use coconut milk as a last rinse after every hair wash. Leave the milk on the hair for 5 to 10 minutes and rinse off.
  • Mix in the juice of one lemon into a cup of coconut milk and refrigerate the mixture for 15 to 30 minutes or until a creamy film is formed. Apply the mix on the hair for 30 minutes and rinse off.

  • Make a paste of one egg white, one cup of fuller’s earth, and five teaspoons of rice flour. Apply the mix on the hair and comb through. Leave the mask on the hair for one hour and wash off with a mild shampoo. Use this mask once a week for few months.

  • Make a paste of two mashed bananas and two tablespoons each of natural yoghurt, honey, and olive oil. Add in one egg white. Apply the mask to the hair and cover with a shower cap. Leave the mask on for 30 minutes and wash off.
  • Mix half cup of warm oil (olive, coconut, and castor) with half cup of aloe vera gel. Mix in six drops of essential oil like rosemary and sandalwood. Massage the mixture into the hair and scalp and wash off after 1 to 2 hours.

Tips

  • Condition the hair properly after every wash. There are some great conditioners available that control the frizz and relax the hair.
  • Moisturize the hair with herbs. Some herbs such as chamomile, rose geranium, rose, lavender, cedar wood, calendula, burdock, and sandalwood soften the hair cuticle and straighten the hair. Make an herb infusion by boiling five teaspoons of above mentioned herbs in two cups of water. Mix in a tablespoon of vinegar and use the infusion on the hair in place of the conditioner. Do not wash out.
  • It is also important that you pay careful attention to the health of your hair. Therefore following a proper diet, drinking plenty of water and also protecting the hair from excessive sun exposure is important.
Home treatments give excellent results, if done regularly. These remedies relax the hair shaft and smooth curls and waves. The result is a straighter, healthier, and shinier mane without any extra cost or damage.

COFFEE BODY SCRUB

With summer approaching and the temperature rising, there are a few things that begin to worry women. As layers of clothing start coming off, here are a few things about your body that signal immediate attention:
1. You have probably been over eating the entire winter to keep warm, and have gained weight around visible areas like stomach, thighs and arms.
2. You have been moisturising your skin daily and that has made you notice the flaking skin your woollens and weather left you with.
3. Once you start exercising to get back in shape your dried up non-elastic skin will definitely develop stretch marks once you begin to lose weight.
While it is easy to exercise regularly and keep a check on the food intake, what we generally struggle with is the rejuvenation of skin, exfoliation and stretch marks. While it is simple to hide them in winter with jackets and sweaters but with the onset of summers, they worry us all. We feel salon and parlour visits is the only solution when in reality the all-in-one cure is available to us all at home.
Recipe: Coffee body scrub (One time use)
Ingredients:
Coconut/ olive / baby oil
Sugar granular (half a cup)
Coffee grains / coffee powder (half a cup)
Semolina or 'Suji' (half a cup)
Instructions:
1. Mix the ingredients together in a bowl.
2. Add oil to the mixture depending on the consistency required.
3. The consistency depends on your skin type - which means - if you have oily skin - you probably want the batter to be coarse while if you have a thin, sensitive or flaky skin - you will require to beat the batter more.
How to use:
1. Make the batter immediately before your bath, to avoid the suji from soaking up the oil and sugar from dissolving.
2. Use the batter before your have soaped and shampooed your self.
3. You can use the batter on your entire body, though keep it away from your eyes.
4. Use generous amounts, rub the batter all over your body, especially over the affected areas as discussed above till the sugar almost dissolves.
5. Leave it on for at least 10 minutes before bathing.
6. You can use the same on your face as well, though don't leave it on and rinse it off immediately with your face wash.
7. Go over the process again if skin doesn't feel supple after rinsing it off.
Frequency:
1. Not more than 3 times a week on alternate days - as your skin needs time to rejuvenate from the vigorous exfoliation and over use can cause open pores causing body acne.
Caution:
1. Try to use warm or room temperature water while bathing; hot water is likely to cease the effect of this batter as it dries the skin quickly.
2. Pat-dry yourself after your bath and avoid rubbing the towel to avoid rashes as this may leave your skin temporarily sensitised.
Not only does this recipe help relax tense muscles after a long day, the results will be visible after the first wash itself and over a period of just 2 to 3 weeks time you will see evidently healthier skin and lesser stretch marks and cellulite dimples!

HAIR LOSS TREATMENT BY USING HOME REMEDIES

Rubbing of scalp
A vigorous rubbing of the scalp with fingers after washing the hair with cold water is one of the most effective among the several home remedies for the prevention and treatment of hair loss. The scalp should be rubbed vigorously till it starts to tingle with the heat. It will activate the sebaceous glands and energise the circulation of blood in the affected area, making the hair grow healthy.

Using amla oil
Amla oil, prepared by boiling dry pieces of amla in coconut oil, is considered a valuable hair tonic for enriching hair growth. A mixture of an equal quantity of fresh amla juice and lime juice, used as a shampoo also stimulates hair growth and prevents hair loss.

Using lettuce
Lettuce is useful in preventing hair loss. A mixture of lettuce and spinach juice is believed to help the growth of hair if taken to the extent to half a litre a day

Using mustard oil and henna leaves
Mustard oil, boiled with henna leaves, is useful for healthy growth of hair. About 250 ml of mustard oil should be boiled in a tin basin. About sixty grams of henna leaves should be gradually put in this oil till they are burnt in the oil. The oil should then be filtered using a cloth and stored. Regular massage of the head with the oil will produce abundant hair.

Using coconut milk
The application of coconut milk all over the scalp and massaging it into the hair roots is also beneficial in the treatment of hair loss. It nourishes the hair and promotes hair growth. Coconut milk is prepared by grinding the coconut shavings and squeezing them well.

Using onion
Onion has also been found beneficial in patchy baldness. The affected part should be rubbed with onions morning and evening till it is red. It should be rubbed with honey afterwards.

Using other remedies
Daily application of refined coconut oil, mixed with lime water and lime juice on the hair, prevents hair loss and lengthens it. Application of the juice of green coriander leaves on the head is also considered beneficial. Washing the hair with a paste of cooked black gram and fenugreek lengthens the hair. Regular use of castor oil as hair oil helps the luxuriant growth of the hair.

Daily diet
The healthy condition of the hair depends, to a very large extent, on the intake of sufficient amounts of essential nutrients in the daily diet. Persons with a tendency to lose hair should take a well-balanced and correct diet, made up of foods which, in combination, should supply all the essential nutrients. It has been found that a diet which contains liberal quantities of seeds, nuts, grains, vegetables and fruits would provide adequate amounts of all the essential nutrients. Each food group should roughly form the bulk of one of the three principal meals. These foods should, however, be supplemented with certain special foods such as milk, vegetable oils, honey, wheat germ, yeast and liver.

Uses Of Olive Oil For Beauty

USES OF OLIVE OIL

The plain, old, as well as cheap, olive oil is a frequent ingredient in my beauty regimen. Rich in polyphenols, antioxidants such as vitamins E and K, and essential fatty acids, olive oil can actually help delay aging in an amazing way. I believe there is more than one way we can use olive oil for beauty purposes.

1. Facial Moisturizer
I don’t know about you, but I love using oil on my face so much. It has, to some degree, saved my eye wrinkles from becoming “crepey.”
2. Hand Moisturizer
If you have ignored to pamper your hands in your beauty regime, it’s time to give them some well-deserved attention. Lack of maintenance can lead to unsightly wrinkles on hands. Another benefit of using olive oil as a hand moisturizer is that it can provide moisture to cuticles and make your nail polish last longer.
3. Hair Conditioner
Have you ever tried using hot oil treatment on your hair? It can restore moisture in your hair shafts, making your hair look softer and less dry. I like mixing egg yolk and olive oil as a pre-shampoo treatment. I think this method works better for me, because it’s less time-consuming. You can also rub olive oil on your hair to prevent frizz.
4. Body Moisturizer/Scrub
Depending on how you use it, olive oil can be a body moisturizer or body scrub. To use it as a body moisturizer, simply rub some olive oil on your damp skin. To use it as a body scrub, add some sugar to make a paste.
5. Makeup Remover
The cleansing ability of olive oil is quite good. It can remove my light make-up nicely. I also have the impression that removing my eye make-up with olive oil can be moisturizing. Don’t forget you can massage your face and neck (if you apply any make-up on the neck) while cleansing.
6. Sunscreen Remover
I can’t find any evidence suggesting that olive oil can remove water proof sunscreen. But I’ve used it to remove sunscreen on my limbs for more than a few times, and it works. If you’re like me, too busy (or lazy?) to look for a suitable body wash, you may want to give olive oil a go. But people said it can be messy at times.
7. Wax Wipes
When the finish wipes of my wax stripes are running out (which is a frequent occurrence), I used mineral oil to wipe off the wax residue. But I decided to go adventurous and replace mineral oil with olive oil. Olive oil may even be better than mineral oil, because it’s completely natural.
8. Oil Cleansing Method (OCM)
Olive oil, coupled with castor oil, can be used to clean your face, but you may need to adjust the ratio of the oils according to your skin type. For dry skin, you will need more olive oil. I still can’t get over the mental obstacle of cleansing my face with oil without using a normal cleanser, so I can’t tell whether oil cleansing method will work or not. I’ve heard people raving about it though.
Olive oil can actually be applied to anywhere on your skin and body. Have you tried anything above?

SECRET TO SILKY HAIRS !!! (Winters)

Soft, silky, beautiful, well groomed and great crop of hair awaits you this winter season if you spare some time to follow these few nourishing tips and routines.
The air is becoming cold and dry and that's messing with your hair, right? From flyaway strands to dry scalp-induced dandruff, the war is officially on. Tackle the dried-out rat's nest you used to call your hair with these tricks.

1. Invest in the bestFirst and foremost avoid hair products which contain alcohol as they will dry out the hair even further. Look for shampoos that contain oils like coconut. Moisturising type shampoos tend to coat the hair and trap the moisture inside the hair shaft.
2. Oil it up: Coconut is the best oil for hair massage. Hair massage should be done twice a week; never massage your hair with hot oil as it is not healthy for the scalp. Leave your hair oiled for at least 4 hours and not more than 24 hours; otherwise dust will accumulate on the scalp leading to dandruff and dry hair thus hair fall.
3. Wash it well: Prepare the hair for shampooing; before wetting them by combing through with a wide toothed comb to prevent hair tangles. Never wash your hair and scalp with hot water; apply the shampoo to the hair by diluting it first, pour it out onto your hand and then use it, never directly. Apply it using your hands and fingers while massaging firmly in rotating and circular movements. Massage your whole head well and then rinse the hair and scalp thoroughly. women  should wash their hair on alternate days and men can wash on daily basis.
Apply more shampoo and massage for the second time if needed, dry your hair gently. Don't rub just blot the wet hair with a towel and then smooth the towel along the length of your hair.
4. Condition it all: A conditioner is to hair what a moisturiser is to the skin if you want shiny and easily manageable hair with bounce and strength; then apply a little conditioner. Always rub the conditioner on the body of the hair and not on the scalp; keep it on for 30 seconds only and rinse off. Go for protein or moisturising conditioner.
5. Keep it simple and naturalAvoid blow drying, colouring, ironing as far as possible.
6. Detangling techniquesHair should always be combed when its dry, never comb your wet hair; as hair bonds will break. Always use a wide toothed comb to detangle your hair; the comb should run smoothly and shouldn't be used to open knots, as it will end up breaking and damaging the hair. You can also use your fingers to detangle your hair gently and slowly.
7. Power of yogurt protein: Add the power of yogurt protein to your hair; Yogurt is hailed as one of the best natural protein conditioners for hair. To garner the benefits of yogurt, put about half a cup of yogurt in a blender and work it into a smooth paste. Coat your hair with yogurt and wrap it up in a towel. Leave it on for about 15 minutes and then wash your hair thoroughly. You can also apply mayonnaise to get rid of dry hair.
8. Egg mask: Make your own hair mask to repair dry and brittle hair; remove the yellow part of egg and add 2 spoons of curd in white part and 2 spoons of lemon juice, apply this mask over scalp and keep it on the body of hair for 20 minutes and then wash it off.
9. Avocado mask: Peel and mash a ripe avocado until it begins to look like guacamole. Mix it in an egg yolk with 2 tbsp of olive oil. Massage this mixture into damp hair and tuck your hair under a shower cap. Leave it on for an hour then rinse, shampoo and condition your hair.
10. Dietary supplementsThere are many dietary supplements which can help you have healthy hair naturally. Eat foods that are rich in vitamin B such as peas, beans, carrots, nuts and eggs. Another vitamin which is essential for healthy hair is biotin or vitamin H which is present in brown rice, soya-beans and walnuts. Dry hair is a problem which can only be addressed with the help of regular maintenance. To get rid of dry hair, it is best to develop a routine which incorporates steps to effectively moisturize and condition your hair.
